Born in 1986 in Chicago, contemporary artist Jukan Tateisi—known for his installation work both in Japan and abroad—launched his music project as an extension of his artistic practice.

In July 2024, his debut single Distant was released alongside a music video filmed at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, which had temporarily closed due to the Noto Peninsula earthquake. Blending Japanese and English with diverse languages and cultural influences, his lyrics—combined with a sound that fuses acoustic and digital elements, and a vocal style that is both powerful and delicate—create a striking form of pop music.

His second single, Shūgōron (Set Theory), is set for release at the end of 2024. Beginning in April 2025, Tateisi will launch Walkthrough—a documentary-style music journey in which he records landscapes and sounds from cities and natural environments around the world, interwoven with his own singing.
