Le Jardin Convivial

This exhibition takes the form of a guided tour held within the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Gardens—transforming the concept of a “garden” into its stage. Contemporary artists working across various media present site-specific works throughout the botanical gardens, with a curator leading visitors through a different guided program each time.
Participating artists include Kenta Ishige, Sen Takahashi, Koichiro Tada, Jukan Tateisi, Hitoshi Nomura, Yuhei Makiyama, and Shuji Yamamoto. Their diverse approaches to the idea of a “garden”—from painting displays within the garden grounds to sculptural installations in the fountains—imbue the space with vivid new life.
The guided tours, held seven times daily, are documented through video and text and made available on the exhibition website. Through both navigation and documentation, the project seeks to reconsider what it means to inhabit space in contemporary times.
The title “Le Jardin Convivial” reflects a space inhabited not only by humans, but by a multitude of life forms. As a place where artistic expression and living ecosystems encounter one another, the garden becomes a pluralistic environment—one that invites us to contemplate humanity as a part of a larger ecological system.
生きられた庭
京都府立植物園という「庭（garden）」を舞台に開催されるガイドツアー形式の展覧会。多様なメディアを用いる現代作家たちが植物園の中で展示を行い、キュレーターが毎回異なるプログラムのツアーで観客を「庭」に案内する。
参加アーティストは、石毛健太、髙橋銑鉄、多田恋一郎、立石従寛、野村仁、牧山雄平、山本修路の7名。庭園内での絵画展示や、噴水でのオブジェ設置など、各作家の「庭」に対するアプローチによって、「庭」はいきいきとした様相を帯びる。
1日7回行われるガイドツアーの様子は、映像やテキストで「ドキュメンテーション」としてウェブサイト上に公開。「ナビゲーション」と「ドキュメンテーション」を介することで、現代における「生きられた空間」について再考する試みとなる。
本展のタイトル「生きられた庭」は、人間の存在だけにとどまらない、多様な生命の営みが宿す「庭」という空間を表したもの。表現者が生み出す芸術空間と、生命が萌む生態系の空間が邂逅する多元的な「生きられた庭」は、「生態系の一部として存在する人間」を思考できる場となるだろう。
