When Virtual Reality becomes familiar to the society, an age of lacking the sense of body and time, what connects us to the reality?

This art project is an experiment of "living" for 3 days at SPIRAL Hall, where nearly 20 young and energetic artists/curators led by Jukan Tateisi and Yuu Takagi prepare the space using mixed medium such as sound, moving image, photography, writing, ice melted glass, or architectual sculptures.

Hope you enjoy the space where moves our senses to how we live in meanwhile, between reality and virtual reality, physics and non-physics.

仮想現実が身近になり、身体性と時間感覚が乏しくなりつつある現代。私たちを現実世界につなぎ止めるものは何だろうか。

本アートプロジェクトは、新進気鋭のアーティスト／クリエイターが音や映像、写真、詩、氷の溶けたグラス、建築的構造体といった様々な要素から立ち上がる空間に、3日間限定で「暮らす」試みである。

日常／非日常、現実／仮想、身体／非身体のあわいに生きる私たちの感覚を揺さぶる空間を感じていただければ幸いです。

Mass of Time, Anchoring to the World

Our world is drowned in the ocean of uncontrollable information and objects. Before the world goes under the water by the global warming, the space might be covered by the virtual reality. In the era of where we are lacking the sense of physicality and time, what can anchor us to the reality?

It can be "living" as the physicality with sense of time that we left in the virtual reality. At "The Drowned World Anchor", we will anchor to the ocean where we as human-being has been engracing the spent time.

時の塊、世界にアンカーを打つ

われわれの世界は抑えきれぬ情報と物の海に溺れている。温暖化によって世界が水面の下に移る前に、仮想現実が覆いかぶさっているのではないだろうか。身体性と時間感覚が乏しくなっていくこの時代において、われわれを現実につなぎ止めるものはなんだろうか。

それは、仮想世界に忘れてきてしまった時間を伴った身体性 ー 暮らしではないか。これまでわれわれ人類が過ごしてきた時間を刻んだ海にアンカーを打つ。

This is a sea.

Actual sea continues to rise up, and we are going to be drowned.

The sea is a metaphor for how time and space can be. Our time and space are filled up with information or all things.

The feeling of being drowned in the daily life. Surrounded by all things.

This space is showing how we are going to live, as well as existing.

Ladies and gentlemen, please enjoy being with time and space here.

This space is composed with 2 living spaces.

From your position, on the right hand it is the virtual space, and real space on the other hand.

These two are spread from centering around the iceberg which can be seen in the air.

These two are not separated at all.

Dripping off from the top of the iceberg. It is the same as the expansion of a water drop.

The thing above us is an iceberg. It is a part of iceberg that is drowned in the sea. It is the invisible part.

As our consciousness is said to be the tip of iceberg, the tip is the consciousness.

The drowned, invisible part is said to be the unconsciousness.

There are several anchors hung from the bottom part of the iceberg in the space where we are all in.

What is that keeps us being in this overflowing sea, penetrating the iceberg as consciousness/unconsciousness?

ここは海です。

実際の海の水位はあがりつづけ、私達はおぼれてしまうです。

海は空間と時間のあり方の比喩です。私達の時間と空間は物や情報あらゆるもので埋め尽くされています。

日常における溺れてしまうという感覚。ありとあらゆる物事の中で。

ここはそんなわたしたちがどう暮らしてゆくか、ひいては生きてゆくかを屈託なくあらわしています。

皆様どうぞここで時間と空間を共にすごして下さい。

ここは２つの暮らしの空間で構成されています。

皆様からみて右が現実空間、皆様からみて左が仮想空間です。

この２つは皆様の上空に見える氷山を中心に広がっています。

この２つは決して別け隔てられているわではありません。

その氷山頂点から滴り落ちる。水滴のひろがりと同じなのです。

私達のうえにあるのは氷山です。氷山の海の沈んでいる部分です。見えない部分です。

私達の意識も氷山の一角といわれるように、一角の部分が意識と言われています。

沈んでいる、見えない部分が私達の無意識だそうです。

私達のいる空間の氷山の底部からはいくつかの錨ーアンカーが垂れています。

氷山という意識/無意識をつらぬいて私達をこの溢れんばかりの海に留めるのは何なのでしょうか。

What you can see in the centre while you stands to front is a lump of ice quarried out of the iceberg.

When you get closer, there are tea leaves laid on the bottom.

It is extracting tea gradually.

When the tea is poured in the glass with ice, there will be the indescribable sound.

The sound of change by the significant gap of temperature, the sound of melt touched by air and water.

The sound of scratching glass. There will be the sound that makes you standing on tiptoe a bit, and peaceful.

This sound is in a way a yoke for everything happens in this space.

皆さんが前を見たときに、中央に見えますのが、氷山から切り出されたかの如く氷塊でございます。

近づいて頂きますとその底には、茶葉が敷き詰められています。

じわりじわりとお茶がだされているのです。

その溜まり溜まりましたお茶を氷の入ったグラスに注ぎますと、えもいえぬ様な音。

氷が急激な温度差で変化する音、空気に触れ、水に触れ、融解する音。

ガラスに擦れる音。少しつま先立ち、安らげる音がするのです。

この音はある意味この空間で起こるあらゆる出来事のくびきとなっています。

This is a story about the sound of this space.

The sounds that are filled this space up and makes us drowned are what those makes by those selves,

but also are the sounds "surround" us as of the range in the nature with or without our desire.

Sometimes it is the sound of drift ices, something we cannot sense directly, or something familiar,

the sound of the range in the nature, that we have to listen carefully intentionally, and that unlistenable is what we are.

I have yet no idea how we relate with it or how it relates to us.

この空間の音の話です。

この空間を満たす、私達を溺れさせるこの音達は、自身が発する音でもありますが、

おのずから然かりの域の音、私達の欲すると否とにかかわらず、私達を「取り巻いて」いる音です。

それは流氷の音であったり、私達が直には感じ得られない音であったり、あるいは馴染みの音であったり

おのずから然かりの域の音、それを私達はしかと意識しなければ聞こえず、聞こえないという事が私達でもあります。

それらとどう接して、接されてゆくかは私には今はわかりません。

As the last piece for today, we shall think about living.

We often live in space, which separates outside by making inside.

Space is woven into the socialistic relationship to human-behaviour, and is weaving the image of human and society into itself as the invisible alphabet letters. Space is the various narrative by itself, in another word the compound text.

Text piles up endlessly, and will becomes a bundle.

And which maybe going to be a part of the anchor for us.

本日の最後に、暮らすということについて考えたいと思います。

私達はおうおうにして、空間、外側と隔たりをもつ、内側をつくり、そこに生きてきました。

空間は内面からも外面からも人間行為と社会的な関係に織りあげられ、人間と社会の像を自らのなかに目に見えぬ文字ように織り込んでいる。空間はそれ自体さまざまな語り、いいかえれば複合したテキストである。

テキストはどこまでも積み上がりひとつの束となります。

それが私達にとってのアンカーの一部となるのだと思います。
