To The Fog is a memorial work created in response to a personal tragedy that occurred around the artist in the spring of 2020. Unable to visit, to say goodbye, or even to witness the burning of the body—the experience felt as though the person had suddenly disappeared without a trace. In the same way, we too may now find ourselves lost, as if wandering in a dense fog, uncertain of the direction of space and time.

Toward the land beyond the fog—a place to which we can no longer return—the work casts thoughts interwoven with the public and the private, stillness and motion, reality and illusion.

「To The Fog」は、2020年春に作家身辺で起きた悲劇へのメモリアル作品である。 見舞いにもいけず、看取ることもできず、燃え上がる肉体を見送ることもできず。ある日とつぜん行方不明になったような感覚で日々を過ごすように、われわれは空間と時間の方向を五里霧中のように見失っているのではないか。霧の向こうにある、戻れなくなった地に向かって、公/私、静/動、実/虚が織り交ざる想いを投げかける。
