Forest Festival of the Arts Okayama

2024

Tateisi visited Okutsu Gorge in Kagamino Town and created a sound installation inspired by the grandeur of nature—the sound of flowing water, rustling leaves, and the calls of animals and insects. In the forest, known for its stunning autumn foliage, an object traced from the river’s rocky terrain stands quietly. Its mirrored surface reflects not only the landscape of Okutsu Gorge but also the viewers themselves.

By listening closely to the sounds emerging from the world reflected in the mirror, visitors are invited to feel the deep harmony of nature that has been nurtured since ancient times. Seeing one’s own reflection within this environment also encourages a renewed awareness: that we, too, live alongside the beauty of nature, our surroundings, and others.
